Show Update November 2017
The first meeting to commence arrangements for the 2018 Village Show took place at the Royal Oak on Tuesday 7th November.
It was great that so many committee members were able to attend the meeting and lovely to meet the new members of the team. All of the main roles have now been filled and we are all looking forward to the next show.
The chosen theme for the 2018 show is ‘Board Games’ as previously announced. Preparations are already well underway to ensure everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable day. The main acts have been booked and consideration has been given to how the theme can be incorporated to the various areas of the show on the day.
As parishioners, there are lots of fun ways for you to get involved. You could take part in the opening parade on show day; either as individuals or as a group. We hope that as many people as possible will enter the scarecrow competition and display themed scarecrows outside their houses in the run up to the show. There are always lots of Home Craft classes for both young and old to enter. Details of the Scarecrow Competition and all the Home Craft classes will be advertised in due course. In the meantime, put your thinking caps on. How could you join in? As individuals, as families, with friends or even join forces with your neighbours. What about a themed street? Now there’s a challenge!!

Well done to everyone who arranged and attended last years show. Without ALL of your support, these donations would not have been possible.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th January 2018 – 7.45pm for an 8.00pm start. Anyone wishing to join the team is welcome to come along to the meeting. New ideas and extra pairs of hands are always welcome.

VILLAGE SHOW AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Village Show committee was held on Thursday 18th September in the WI Hut.
Chair, Sophie Brewill, congratulated the committee on achieving what they had all set out to do last year - to provide an exciting day out to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Show. The additional expenditure spent on entertainment and decoration had indeed made it a memorable event, with a record 3,679 visitors through the gates and plenty of positive feedback. Her words were followed by the Treasurer’s report, presented by Huw Cadwallader, which showed that the finances were in place for the 2015 village show and for making donations to selected village societies and other causes.
The Officers for the 2015 Village Show are:
Chair: Sophie Brewill
Vice Chair: Rob Bendy
Vice Chair Liz Meylan
(continuity)
Treasurer: Neil Morton
Honorary Auditor: Max Teare
Secretary: Andonnia Baseley
The date of the first committee meeting for the 2015 Show is Tuesday 4th November, venue to be confirmed. If you are interested in attending please email the Secretary on andonniab@gmail.com.
Finally, the committee expressed its thanks to retiring Treasurer Huw Cadwallader for all his hard work and commitment to the Show, and to Martin Waring and Lisa Hampson, who are retiring from managing the Bar and Pimms tents respectively. All have held these positions for a number of years and their time and effort has been greatly appreciated.
